Stem cells refer to the basic units from which other units are generated. The first step toward stem cell research was taken in 1868. It is this pluripotent nature that has enabled it to be used for treatment and repair. There are many sources that have since the nineteenth century been discovered (Hipp, 2008). There are adult stem cells which are inherently found from the bone marrow or fat. They are scarce in number and have restricted regenerative capabilities.
