I believe a positive attitude towards family ties is an essential cultural facet that impacts Margaret’s case. Mexican Americans have an old saying that people must take care of their family no matter what happens, and most members of this demographic value strong family ties (Zeiders, Updegraff, Umaña-Taylor, McHale, & Padilla, 2016). I selected cultural perception of the family considering that Margaret’s case reveals details about her family members, from her father to partner and her children. This cultural facet is a strength because it assures a person of a robust support system at home, ensuring that they can navigate life with higher ease. For example, nine-year-old David has Down’s syndrome. Despite the challenges that come with this condition, he succeeds at school, mainly down to his family helping him have a consistent schedule.
