Answer preview

One can only be licensed if they can sit and pass the tests that are authorized by the state of Florida. Besides taking the state exam, one is also required to take the National Board Dental Hygiene test which is used to assess how much the candidate knows about the job he will be doing while the state exam evaluates the candidate’s clinical skills. The two bodies that have the mandate of licensing dental hygienists are the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) which also licenses the training programs. Once one has received his license, he is free to use the initials R.D.H (Registered Dental Hygienists) before his name.
