Asymmetric encryption is the second way of encrypting information. It is also known as public-key cryptography. It is a much recent approach to encrypting information compared to symmetric encryption. Under this approach, encryption is done using two keys (Agoyi & Seral, 2010). One of these keys is the public key, which is provided to anyone who would like to send another person a message. The next key is the private one; it is a key only known to the recipient of data. When information gets encrypted using a public key, it can only be deciphered using a private key (Agoyi & Seral, 2010). In addition to this, information encrypted using a private key can be deciphered using a public key. These added layers of protection are one of the major reasons asymmetric keys accord people much higher security levels than symmetric keys. This might also explain why it is the most common form of encryption used for day-to-day
