Acoustic and chemical cues

$5.00

Sunyer et al. (2013), Hughes et al. (2014) – Questions for Discussion 10/9/20

1) What categories did Sunyer et al. (2013) use to classify “acorn use” and “mice behavior”? Broadly, what were the tools Sunyer et al. used to track these uses and behaviors? (2 pts)

2) What was the role that scent played in influencing mice behavior (i.e. the 4 behavior categories)? How did Sunyer et al. (2013) determine this? (2 pts)

3) How would the role of genets change if live genets were used instead of their scent? What might happen to the population size of mice and their seed predation patterns? (2 pts)

4) In Sunyer et al. (2013), compare and contrast the observed effects of conspecific and predator scents on mice acorn predation and dispersal. (2pts)

5) In the Hughes et al. (2014) paper, what was the observed difference between acoustic and chemical cues? What environmental conditions might affect the chemical cues? (2 pts)

6) In Hughes et al. (2014), what explanation do the authors give for the black drum and catfish acoustic cues

California Psychological Inventory

“Psychological Testing Using the ___________” (the instrument you select)

NOTICE***(Due Sunday by midnight at the end of week 3)

This month you are to write a 1200-word research paper on psychological testing using one of the following instruments: California Psychological Inventory, 16 Personality Factors or the MMPI.
This paper is worth 15% of your grade.
Please use the APA format and cite at least four (4) sources. Take time to review the APA video posted in the Getting Started area of the course.

Assignment Requirements (Use as a checklist):

You will select one of the above testing instruments:

CPI
16PF
MMPI

and research and discuss the following aspects of the test:

Development and Description

Uses
What does it measure
Strengths
Weaknesses
Reliability
Validity
Administration

Theoretical foundation and major techniques

$18.00

Last week, you selected the CBT approach you are using for your Course Project and wrote the first part of your paper, explaining the theoretical foundation and major techniques of the approach. This week, you continue your research with the approach by exploring its application to a particular population or disorder. For instance, if you selected pure CBT last week, you might now research its application in treating someone with cerebral palsy. After you have completed your research, you will create a brief PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the research on applying this approach to this population/issue.

To prepare:

Apply the therapy you selected in Part 1 to a diverse population (e.g., Native Americans, refugees) and a specific DSM-5 disorder (e.g., agoraphobia).
Perform research in the Walden Library about the extent to which your approach has been applied to your selected population and issue. Is its use with this population/issue growing or evolving?

Elderly inmates

$4.00

After watching the video about elderly inmates in this week’s module, address the following questions:

Why do we have such a rapidly growing population of elderly inmates? The video discusses several reasons.

What statistics as quoted in our video this week were surprising to you?

Discuss your thoughts about one of the inmates that was interviewed in this video. What was their sentence, what crime did they commit, how long have they been in prison? Do they seem to still be dangerous? If not, should they still be in prison?

Should elderly inmates get special treatment? Should they get released when the get old, sick, and are not dangerous anymore? Why or why not?

Bullying behavior

$2.00

A classic example of bullying is a scenario in which a much larger, stronger bully physically intimidates and harasses a smaller, weaker victim to steal the victim’s lunch money. You might think that the obvious solution to the bullying in this example is to punish the bully to prevent the behavior from reoccurring. It would be nice if the solution were that simple, but it often is not. The bully may receive gains from the behavior (positive reinforcement; e.g., money to buy more food at lunch or respect from peers) that outweigh the punishment. Furthermore, if the bullying has occurred over a length of time with the same victim, the victim may also develop a conditioned response. For example, suppose that the school bell signaling that it is lunch time rings just before the bully approaches the victim for his lunch money. Initially the bell is a neutral

Self-determination theory

$2.00

Theories often evolve from previous theories. As you noted in Week 2, job characteristics and job enrichment theory incorporate key elements of job/work design theory. In Week 3, you discovered that organizational justice theories emerged from equity theory. This week, you discover that the same evolutionary trajectory occurs as basic principles of cognitive evaluation theory (CET) appear in the broader and more comprehensive self-determination theory (SET).

Organizational psychology professionals might be asked to address issues relating to low worker motivation and failure to achieve goals. Recognizing that most individuals perform work assignments because they have to and not because they want to, Deci and Ryan (2000) suggest workers develop an “active personal commitment” to their job (p. 60). To achieve this objective, these researchers recommend a course in which employees internalize and integrate their values into their work tasks.

For this Discussion, think about the relationship between CET and SDT. Then select a professional or academic goal that you have achieved and consider why you achieved that goal based on SDT.

Psychoanalytic Analysis

$12.00

This assignment provides the opportunity for you to demonstrate your ability to apply the concepts covered throughout the course. This assignment MUST be typed, double-spaced, in APA style, 7th edition, and must be written at graduate level English. You must integrate the material presented in the text and cite your work according to APA format.

Culture, Diversity and Legal/Ethical considerations are required. Please integrate factors relevant to culture and diversity in your discussions of each vignette. Identify and discuss legal and ethical issues present in each vignette.  [This information can be found in Part I as well as in chapters throughout the course text]. You are also encouraged to use outside cultural resources to enhance your understanding.

Use the Case of Stan and Case of Gwen as a guide to theoretical application, referencing in APA style.

See Sample Vignette Analysis located under Resources

Your response to each vignette should be 1-2 pages per vignette for a total of 5-6 pages for the entire assignment plus a title and reference page.
Do not copy and paste the vignettes into your written response

Vignette One
Jack, a 28-year old man, tells you: “Most of my life I have felt pushed and pulled. My father pushed me into school, sports, and so forth, and over the years my resentment grew for him. He was always

Systematic and scientific analysis

$24.00

Over the past five weeks you have examined several areas of psychology in relation to the areas/fields of psychology that you are most interested in. As you enter the final week of the course and potentially the end of your bachelor program you may think “what have I learned?”, not just for this course but for the program as a whole. Often, what is created toward the end of an academic program is a portfolio of work that demonstrates your academic achievements and knowledge. This assignment will take a part of that idea but within a position paper. A position paper is your synthesis of ideas and thoughts regarding psychology supported by relevant sources. The basic purpose of the paper is to answer this question:

Quality of care

$3.00

As discussed in previous weeks, a supervisor is ultimately responsible for the quality of care; therefore, the supervisor must have relevant data to make informed decisions. Many supervisors watch videotapes of a supervisee’s therapy sessions and give feedback about the supervisee’s techniques, as well as recommendations for treatment planning. Clients are aware that the supervisor is ultimately in charge and directing the provided care.

In contrast, consultation involves a psychologist who is responsible for providing treatment and who seeks feedback from a colleague. The consultant is aware of information provided only by the treating clinician in a consultation. This lack of access to information may result in less accurate feedback but can provide the consultant some flexibility and creativity that might otherwise be missing if the consultant was responsible for the treatment. The consultant understands that he or she does not have all the facts and therefore must rely on the treating clinician’s good-faith judgment to incorporate suggestions into the treatment plan.

Personal growth and development

$10.00

I’m working on a Psychology report and need a sample draft to help me learn.

Midterm- write a five page paper covering Chapters 1-5 and how it relates to you and your own personal journey of growth and development. It requires two references other than the text book listed below.
