It is obvious that going to prison means having one’s rights curtailed. But that does not mean inmates are not entitled to certain human rights because even the most hardened criminals have rights protected by the United States criminal justice system. However, people’s rights while in prison vary slightly depending on the stage of their criminal process (Mckee, 2019). For instance, inmates at the pre-trial stage have the right to be housed in a humane facility without punishment. All other inmates in incarceration have different rights as follows.
