Students who pursue the internship program take up a variety of roles in different industries. The students benefit by receiving on-job training, mentorship, and one-on-one coaching (Nunley Et al., 2016). They also receive some form of compensation for the work that they do for the organization that they are interned at. Another advantage that the students who take on the internship program have is that they are trained on how to search and apply for jobs that interest them. Although job searching might seem quite easy, it is a skill that needs to be honed. One has to know which kinds of job they are more likely to get with their education, skill, and experience. Applying for jobs that one is very likely to get usually leads to failure and frustration. The internship program also enables students to get connections in the corporate world and hence expand their network. Connections are very key to success in the business world (Nunley Et al., 2016).
