Answer preview

White-collar crimes like money laundering and corruption have been challenging issues to law enforcement across the globe. Many of those crimes are usually hard to discover, prove, and punish as they involve influential people in law enforcement. Such crimes are committed with some degree of sophistication incorporated by influential people (Moro, 2018). During such crimes, the police and the judiciary are often not well prepared to do investigations, prosecute, and judge those criminals as a lot of corruption is involved, making it take long for the crimes to come to light. Also, powerful defendants prevent effective accountability by exploiting the gap in the criminal law and the judicial system. Corruption has been putting a gap in how business is conducted and how crimes are solved, especially in a corrupt country that does not follow the law.
