As demonstrated by McAleenan (2019), mass shootings undermine the country’s interior security and alter the political, economic, and people’s social life. While focusing more on the sociological impact, the Sandy Hook School domestic terrorism affected people, mostly community members in Newton, Connecticut, where the school was situated. Sociological implications address the cultural, social, and environmental aspects of society (Ozeren, Gunes, & Al-Badayneh, 2007). From the case, the terrorism act in the Newton community ruptured the social fabric and the inhabitant’s way of life. They no longer had confidence in the community’s security, and the social trauma, among the survivors endangered their educational, occupational, and social well-being. This means that such mass attacks prevent the community from enjoying social and cultural rights due to the instilled social trauma from the terrorizing effect. Hence, community members’ actions were razing down the educational institution and constructing a new one, which was a significant step for relieving their social trauma and improving their living environment (History Editors, 2012).
