Experimental Design Statement

Experimental design assignment

Problem Statement:

A small residential lake located in the state of Alabama is situated between a corn field and a road. There are 4 houses located around the perimeter of the lake. The lake is stocked with Bluegill Bream (Brim) for fishing. No motor boats of any kind are allowed on the lake. The road is paved. Both the road and the corn field are in the watershed of the lake.

The lake has experienced a fish kill and a foul odor of rotten eggs. It is late February. A major rain event occurred before the observed fish kill and odor. The residents have called you to help determine the cause(s) and suggest a possible solution.

Experimental Design Statement

This paper is an experimental design to determine the cause of foul odor of rotten eggs and a fish kill at a small residential lake located in the state of Alabama situated between cornfield, paved road, and four houses around its perimeter. The paper is structured into the experiment objectives, a relevant case study from US states, an explanation of the dependent and independent variables, appropriate test methods, sampling protocol, and a conclusion with recommendations for solutions to the community problem. The experimental design provides a scientific approach and is centered on testing a variety of analyte likely to cause the foul odor to smell of rotten eggs and a fish kill…
