Answer preview

In the modern world, people can match to protest for freedom through nonviolent campaign steps that King used together with his African Americans. The steps in the campaigns were the collection of facts, negotiation, self-purification, and taking direct action, which, according to King, was creating nonviolent tension (Schulke, 85-87). In Malcolm X’s view, however, he believed that the only way to get freedom was through self-defense mechanisms, but he did not directly call for violent action. However, an important message from the two influential African American leaders is that achieving the vision of freedom can only be possible if people stand firmly in protecting what they highly value.
