The themes of false accusation, pressure from society, and injustice are present in “The Piece of String.” These themes educate people to uphold good morals. The theme of false accusation puts the life of Hauchecorne at risk because he develops stress that deteriorates his health. Pressure from society made people deny one of them his rights as a respectable member of society. Besides, injustice makes Hauchecorne live a life of denial as everyone sees him as a criminal.
