Answer preview

Many are times when suspects falsely confess to crimes that they did not do mostly because of the procedures that are used by the police during the interrogation. It is impossible to entirely wipe out false confessions but there are some reforms that can be put in place to minimize this risk. One of the reforms is videotaping the interrogations. If the police are aware that they are been recorded they will not be too aggressive and they also fear that the judge may dismiss the evidence they gathered if it is deemed to have been collected in an unethical manner. Another reform is doing away with some of the interrogation methods. Some of the methods used are misleading to the suspects. Another reform is bringing back the exclusionary rule. This means that any evidence that is collected when the rights of the defendant are been violated will not be admissible.
