Answer preview

Another definition that can encompass all the modern family forms is that a family is a group of people connected by marriage, blood relation, birth or by an act of law such as adoption or custody orders, who share social and financial resources regularly (Sharma, 2013). It is crucial to recognize family structures that have not been identified traditionally since it promotes values of inclusivity and non-discrimination. This approach ensures that a family is not denied such status unless such a group of people does not want to be recognized as a family. This recognition is also important I n light of the evolving nature of the society; therefore there is a need to acknowledge that there is no ideal familial form (Sharma, 2013). An understanding of the family structures is vital since the nature of man as a social being implies that human beings are interdependent. Therefore, the family is the backbone of society since the family supports an individual socially, emotionally and financially. An individual, thus, acquires his or her character and being from the family.
