Deforestation is one of the environmental issues experienced globally. It refers to the removal of trees in existing forests to acquire space for people to settle or perform economic activities. According to Fernandez‐Martinez, Vicca, Janssens, Espelta, and Penuelas (2017), forests provide a conducive environment for biological processes, which are essential for living things to survive and interact with the environment. For example, trees purify the air by absorbing pollutant gases like nitrogen oxide and ammonia while trapping particulate matter from the air. Deforestation threatens the biological processes and the ecosystem by interfering with the natural structure of environmental components. Therefore, the government should initiate forest preservation awareness programs and forest policy to end deforestation.
