Gary is a 29-year-old male referred to my office from the ED complaining of a variety of life stressors. According to him, he has noticed that over the last five months, he has consistently been gaining weight. His initial weight stood at one hundred and seventy-five pounds in January of this year. However, the weight has always gone up, and as of May this year, he weighed one hundred and ninety-five pounds, which represents a weight gain of approximately twenty pounds. Gary pointed out that he is increasingly finding it difficult to fall asleep, and when he manages to do it, more often than not, he finds himself waking up a couple of times and finding it difficult to fall back asleep. In addition, Gary is complaining of decreased self-esteem, general fatigue, moodiness and irritability, anxiety, loss of appetite, followed by increased eating, reduced libido, and finally, feelings of guilt stemming from loss of income due to economic troubles, in light of the fact that he is a business owner.
