Since our childhood, we have come to terms that we have bad and good feelings. While joy and happiness are viewed as good feelings, sadness is considered to be bad feelings. Usually, when we encounter a bad or emotional sense, we tend to elude it, but avoidance is not the best remedy for such feelings. Some psychologists argue that avoiding personal feelings leads to psychiatric disorders and suffering (Kunst, 2010). For example, a person who lives with memories of sexual abuse may be flooded by memories of trauma, hate, or revenge. To ease the pain without acceptance, many people look for short term relief such as drug abuse. Such remedies can even make the problem worsen or force one in unacceptable sociological behaviors.
