Regarding flexibility, structured data is rigid since it follows a schema in the relational databases. On the other hand, semi-structured data uses a schema whereby the information combines with the data values because the data object may have diverse unknown attributes. Hence, the data has more flexibility than the structured data but less flexibility than the unstructured data.  However, unstructured data has a higher level of flexibility than the two other types of data since it does not depend on a schema.

Regarding performance, Elmasri and Navathe (2016) inform that the structured use the SQL to execute functions while the semi-structured relies on anonymous nodes to fulfill queries.
