Scenario

You are a member of SNHU’s champion debate club. You have had a successful season and are well on your way to the College Debate Bowl championship! Your team’s objective for this event will be to prepare a defense for a position on the following topic: Which impacts human behavior more: nature or nurture?

Human behavior, specifically what motivates an individual to behave in a particular manner, has been subjected to intense research. Despite this, the findings of these studies have stirred up intense debates amongst scholars and researchers. On the one hand, some adopt the school of thought that nature has the most influence on the behavior adopted by an individual (Kamran, 2016). On the other hand, some oppose this premise, arguing that nurture, rather than nature, has the most impact on human behavior (Kamran, 2016). Even though genetic influences affect human conduct, this influence is not as extensive or impactful as that imposed by environmental factors.
