The book of Song of Solomon did not reveal the place or date of its composition. The historic setting of the book is that it was composed centuries after King Solomon and the fact it is in the Hebrew Bible indicates that it was created around the late 6th Century BCE which is also supported by the vocabulary present. The book was also in relation to the love poems of Mesopotamia and Egypt which were written in the 3rd Century. This estimation provides an estimated time of the story which may be around the 10th to the 2nd century BCE (Kent, 2015). However, the language used in writing of the book provides a time period of around the 3rd Century. The setting of the poem is debated in that they celebrate the ritual origin of the sacred marriage. On the other hand, some claim that its setting was initially recited by different singers representing the different poems in the book.
