In a well-thought-out paper integrating information from the learning resources and module readings, make an argument for why your neighbor should first have his daughter evaluated by a clinical psychologist. Discuss the types of assessment tools the psychologist might use in his or her evaluation and how these tools would help in guiding diagnosis and treatment. A clinical psychologist’s role is to provide counseling and clinical services to individuals who may be portraying behavioral, mental, and emotional disorders (American Psychological Association, 2017). Through assessments and diagnosis of one’s condition, a clinical psychologist uses psychology as a science to propagate the treatment process. Clinical psychologists don’t necessarily have to use drugs to treat all behavioral, mental, and emotional issues. They may also help an individual by assisting them to discover their cognitive strengths and teaching them how to become resilient in the day-to-day lives they face their problems (Davis, Peterson & Smith, 2017). Once a thorough assessment and diagnosis of a patient are completed, the clinical psychologist assists with the patient’s treatment through professional support and advising the patient’s caregivers. If medication is needed to help with the disorder, the clinical psychologist will determine how best to medicate the patient.
