Solutions to problems can be found either through a top-down approach or through a Bottom-up approach. The top-down approach entails comparing the situation at hand with previous similar situations. On the other hand, the bottom-up approach entails letting the situation exhibit its variables without adding any facts (Brown, Gandhi, Herring & Puri, 2019). I think it is easier to use the bottom-up approach, which thrives even where top-down cannot. However, in instances where data is limited, it would be better to use the top-down approach.
