Window glasses are an essential detail in any building and construction. Finding the right window glass for a specific space can essentially save on cost and energy efficiency. One of the main types of window glass available for use is the floating glass. One similarity between this glass and all others is that it serves as a primary base for all other glass types. Floating glass is a large smooth panel of glass that can float on molten tin (Ćehić & Omer, 2016). Unfortunately, it is the weakest type of glass in the market.
The second type of window glass readily available to consumers is the tempered glass. It is precisely the same as the floating glass but five times stronger. According to Ćehić and Omer (2016), Tempered glass is heated to 1200 Fahrenheit and cooled at a high rate. This exposure to heat and sudden cooling makes it stronger than floating glass. The third primary type of window glass is the low emissivity window glass. It is recognized as one of the most energy-efficient window glasses in the market as it keeps the air outside the home from getting inside. By so doing, it reduces thermal radiation, which translates into lower heating and cooling costs.
