comes to issues of gender identity and refrain from authoritarian strategies that force their will on their children. Sexual orientation refers to who one is attracted to emotionally, romantically, and physically (Sterzing, Gartner, Woodford & Fisher, 2017). I think that once an individual has ascertained their gender identity, they can make peace with their sexual orientation. Likewise, I believe that people are free to choose their sexual orientation after proper guidance from influential people they look up to and can interact with. I find the extremism surrounding sexual orientation, such as stigma against some groups, unnecessary and disrespect of personal choice and preference. I think that when people disagree with each other on issues of sexual orientation, they should do so with respect remembering that they cannot force an individual to forfeit their freedom of choice. Instead, each group should provide a concrete explanation and illustration of their viewpoint to inform decision-making on matters of gender identity and sexual orientation.
