Week 3 Topic: “CORRELATIONAL VS. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS”

Week 3 Topic: “CORRELATIONAL VS. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS”

You have been tasked to research the relationship between academic performance and studying either alone or in a group.

  • How would you design the study if you were doing a correlational study?
  • How would you design the study if you were doing an experimental study?
  • Between these two designs which one would be the best method in this case? Why?

. Your initial post (your response to the topic) must contain a citation. It is your ideas supported by research. Please refer to the APA Power Point in the Start Here section of the classroom for information on proper formatting. There will be a deduction of 20 points for failure to cite a source within your initial post and to provide a reference at the end of your initial post.

3. Your initial post must be a minimum of 300 words

Answer preview

Academic performance measures the student’s achievements across various academic subjects based on classroom performance, graduation rates, and results from standardized tests. Different students perform either reading alone or in a group. A correlational study is when a student measures variables without manipulating them (Tokan & Imakulata, 2019). If I were to do a correlation study, I would start by making a hypothesis of the study, choose the method of collecting data, such as a survey or use of secondary data, and then collect the data based on a big sample size enough to determine correlation. Finally, I would analyze the results to determine if I have a positive, negative, or no correlation to conduct further research.
