Assessment Description

The purpose of this assignment is to explore the many point-of-care tools available to assist with data acquisition, analysis, and decision-making and to research how these tools can assist with quality measurement.

For the first part of this assignment, research three quality measurement point-of-care tools used in the health care environment. On the “Quality Measurement Point-of-Care Tools” chart, identify each tool and analyze its ability to assist with data acquisition, analysis, and decision making in health care. Include references for any sources used to complete the chart.

For the second part of this assignment, use the information gathered from the chart to write a 500-750-word paper that answers the following questions:

  1. Explain how your chosen point-of-care tools contribute to quality of service through data acquisition, analysis, and decision making.
  2. Discuss the impact that these point-of-care tools can have on quality standards.
  3. Discuss the impact of quality standards on organizational operations.
  4. Reflect on your thoughts related to point-of-care tools and decision making.

Include an introduction and conclusion, and be sure to cite a minimum of four peer-reviewed sources.

A clinical point of care (POC) is when healthcare professionals deliver healthcare services and products to patients at any time of care.   Healthcare professionals can carry out various point of care testing to quickly make the right care decisions. In most cases, this testing is done in life-threatening situations but may also be used when the lab results take a lot of time than needed. Lab testing involves three phases which are pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases.
