The COVID-19 pandemic presented many health care facilities with a myriad of challenges. The most pertinent challenge for many hospitals was not only how to protect and guarantee the safety of patients but also that of health care professionals (Williams & Tsiligianni, 2020). Due to the coronavirus pandemic, patient safety gets classified into two. The first is protecting the patients within hospital premises due to COVID-19 infection. The other encompasses preventing patients coming to hospitals with other ailments from contracting the virus. Health care professionals catering to the medical needs of these patients also need protection from the virus (Williams & Tsiligianni, 2020). Therefore, as the hospital’s new quality director, I will have to ensure I can perform all these duties.
