Answer  preview

Marie Winn’s technological determinist theory accurately describes the adverse effects of inventions such as television on people’s habits. Winn’s theory posits that technology changes people’s values, needs and causes addictions. At first, observers saw the introduction of television as an innovative tool, favorable, beneficial, and wondrous in bringing families together (Winn, 1977). However, television’s contribution to families has done the opposite by destroying the special bonds created when the members engage in collaborative activities. The facts presented in Winn’s argument will help justify my opinion that, indeed, the technological determinist theory is accurate.
