Introductory Paragraph, Problem Statement and Justifications for the Study

For this assignment you are expected to submit a file attached to the assignment dropbox reflecting the introduction and statement of problem/research question of your Capstone Project or Thesis (the introduction and statement of problem/research question should be one paragraph of your work). This will be followed by your Justifications for the Study section (the second section of your work that will contain four paragraphs where each reflects a solid argument that explains why your research is important).

I recommend you present the research question or statement of research problem at the end of an informative and well-written discussion that first introduces the topic at a general level and then walks the reader through to the more specific research question or statement of problem that reflects the four elements emphasized in my notes and in our initial discussion regarding your topic (see my pdf under Writing the Research Question or Statement of Problem.pdfPreview the document ).

For the Justifications for the Study section, I expect you to develop no less than four valid arguments for the justifications section that clearly make a case for why your research is important. These four arguments should be supported by the published literature (see my pdf under Writing the Justifications for the Study.pdfPreview the document ).

Cite your sources in-text using the APA style and prepare an APA formatted reference page.

You will also need to create a cover page (see my pdf under Capstone Project Cover Page and Abstract Formatting Guide.pdfPreview the document) and Executive Summary or Abstract. The Executive Summary or Abstract should be no more than 150 words.

This is the topic of this assignment. The health system how to affect the personal economy in Africa

First of all, the topic of paper is health system how to affect the economy in Africa. In the paper, I will divide the article into seven parts. The capstone project will conclude with series of recommendations and strategies of how a health system affect the people economy in Africa. How can be better run and what kind of plans, strategies will help them develop.

We all know is that population is the most important factor in the development of the country. The development of country requires the existence of human beings as a precondition. The better health system is the foundation of a country’s development. We all know that the situation of economy in Africa is not good. The developing of the society is not fast as other countries, The health system has not been developed. People’s medical conditions is not good too.

The capstone of this project will focus on the current economic situation in Africa, the existing medical system in Africa. I am trying to find the relationship between the health system and the economy. I will select some special countries as examples, carefully analyze the status and shortcomings of the country, and use those examples to find out the rules. There is no doubt that a person’s economy is matter for country, the medical system is the most basic guarantee for everyone. I will mainly analyze the relationship between the individual economy and the medical system from the paper and analyze how they promote each other. And from several aspects to analyze the important role of medical systems in the development of the personal economy, and how an imperfect medical system consumes personal wealth and damages the development of the individual economy.

Impact of Social Media on Patient-Provider Relationships

Impact of Social Media on Patient Engagement

Implications of Providers Obtaining Medical Information from Social Media sites

Possible Use of Social Media in Hospital Outreach to Populations

Role of Government in the Use of Social Media in Healthcare

Conclusion

Examples of Social Media Sites Include:

  1. Social networking sites, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin

2. Collaborative projects such as Wikis (like Wikipedia), social bookmarking applications (like Mendeley)

3. Blogs or microblogs such as WordPress, Twitter (microblog)

4. Content-generated online/virtual communities such as Book Crossing, Flickr, YouTube, Slideshare

5. Virtual gaming or social worlds such as Second Life, Shadow health

Impact of Social Media on Healthcare Field

The use of social media by healthcare consumers has risen rapidly over the past 5 – 10 years. In 2005, only 5% of healthcare consumers in the U.S used a social media platform. By 2011, that percentage had risen to 50%, and in 2018, over 78% of consumers use some type of social media multiple times per day (http://www.pewinternet.org/2018/03/01/social-media-use-in-2018/). The implications this has on the healthcare industry is staggering when you consider that of all the users who participate in social media, 80% are searching for health information (http://www.pewinternet.org/fact-sheet/social-media/). Social media has so greatly influenced the opinions and interactions of both patients and providers, that the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics has described it as an ‘innovative and disruptive force within the healthcare field’. (https://www.pwc.com/us/en/health-industries/health-research-institute/publications/health-care-social-media.html; http://www.pewinternet.org/2018/03/01/social-media-use-in-2018/).

Impact on Patient Engagement

A 2014 systematic review of the literature published in the Informatics Journal, reported how both video and text-based social media are used and perceived by patients. Their review found that social media can support patient empowerment, engagement, and build communities

Impact (http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1460458213476969).

Impact on Providers

A 2016 survey (https://bmcmedinformdecismak.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12911-016-0327-y ) of the role of social media for providers found that over 76% of them used social media for career advancement, a means to stay current with the latest literature and for immediate healthcare information for patients. The use of social media by providers brings about a whole new set of potential issues including patient privacy concerns, professionalism, breach of contract between providers and other entities, as well as, possibly incorrect healthcare information. On the other hand, 80% of providers felt that having access to social media enhanced their level of patient care.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN, 2011) has collaborated with the ANA to develop specific guidelines for the use of social media by nurses. See www.ncsbn.org/Social_Media.pdf to read a white paper discussing common misconceptions about social media, consequences for breaching confidentiality using social media, guidelines for appropriate use of social media, and case scenarios with discussion.

Question Description: Assignment: Evidence-Based Project

Is there a difference between “common practice” and “best practice”?
When you first went to work for your current organization, experienced colleagues may have shared with you details about processes and procedures. Perhaps you even attended an orientation session to brief you on these matters. As a “rookie,” you likely kept the nature of your questions to those with answers that would best help you perform your new role.
Over time and with experience, perhaps you recognized aspects of these processes and procedures that you wanted to question further. This is the realm of clinical inquiry.
Clinical inquiry is the practice of asking questions about clinical practice. To continuously improve patient care, all nurses should consistently use clinical inquiry to question why they are doing something the way they are doing it. Do they know why it is done this way, or is it just because we have always done it this way? Is it a common practice or a best practice?
In this Assignment, you will identify clinical areas of interest and inquiry and practice searching for research in support of maintaining or changing these practices. You will also analyze this research to compare research methodologies employed.

To Prepare:
• Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
• Based on the clinical issue of interest and using keywords related to the clinical issue of interest, search at least four different databases in the Walden Library to identify at least four relevant peer-reviewed articles related to your clinical issue of interest. You should not be using systematic reviews for this assignment, select original research articles.
• Review the results of your peer-reviewed research and reflect on the process of using an unfiltered database to search for peer-reviewed research.
• Reflect on the types of research methodologies contained in the four relevant peer-reviewed articles you selected.

Part 1: An Introduction to Clinical Inquiry
Create a 4- to 5-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:
• Identify and briefly describe your chosen clinical issue of interest. This clinical issue will remain the same for the entire course and will be the basis for the development of your PICOT question
• Describe how you used keywords to search on your chosen clinical issue of interest.
• Identify the four research databases that you used to conduct your search for the peer-reviewed articles you selected.
• Provide APA citations of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected.

Part 2: Identifying Research Methodologies
After reading each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, use the Matrix Worksheet template to analyze the methodologies applied in each of the four peer-reviewed articles. Your analysis should include the following:
• The full citation of each peer-reviewed article in APA format.
• A brief (1-paragraph) statement explaining why you chose this peer-reviewed article and/or how it relates to your clinical issue of interest, including a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest.
• A brief (1-2 paragraph) description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article.
• A brief (1-2 paragraph) description of the research methodology used. Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitative, quantitative, or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific.
• A brief (1- to 2-paragraph) description of the strengths of each of the research methodologies used, including reliability and validity of how the methodology was applied in each of the peer-reviewed articles you selected.
Submit Part 1 and Part 2 of your Evidence-Based Project.
Note: Part 1 is a 4-5 slide PowerPoint and Part 2 is the Matrix. Be sure to attach both of your documents (Part 1 and Part 2)

Please see attachment for the worksheet.

Diabetes and Health Disparities

Diabetes and Health Disparities

I need support with this Health & Medical question so I can learn better.

Select one (or more) of the Federal issues in which the American Diabetes Association (ADA) is asking you to act upon. https://www.diabetes.org/advocacy/take-action

Participate in the selected issue by sending a letter. Enter your letter in the format provided in the ADA website. When you personalize your response, use the knowledge that you have acquired in this course to frame it as a health disparity issue using the concepts you have learned in the readings.

It is good idea if you identify yourself as a pharmacist in training and provide your clinical knowledge. You can state your institutional affiliation (NSU) or your affiliation with any other group that seems related to your argument. If applicable, share any personal experience with diabetes. Try to be passionate, assertive and professional in your arguments.

You will receive confirmation from the ADA and/or from your elected officials.

Upload an integrated PDF or Word document with the confirmation of your submission, a copy of your letter, a brief reflection of what you thought of this assignment (Required).

As you can see on the document, it has several parts.

Part 1 is a discussion about reading .

Part 2, when you access the website and select the federal issue, you’re going to see that the letter is pre-built there, you just have to work on the PERSONALIZE YOUR MESSAGE section of the letter.

Also, this part requires a brief reflection on the thoughts on this assignment.

In summary, there’s 3 things to work on:

  1. The discussion
  2. The letter
  3. The brief reflection

when you click on the link I provided you, it takes you to the American diabetes association website, then you click on the ACT NOW bottom and the letter should be there on the right side. Part of the letter is done (pre-built), you just have to work on the PERSONALIZE YOUR MESSAGE section of the letter. Once everything is done I will personally submit it.

Chronic Stable Angina

E.H. is a 45-year-old African American man who recently moved to the community from another state. He requests renewal of a prescription for a calcium channel blocker, prescribed by a physician in the former state. He is unemployed and lives with a woman, their son, and the woman’s 2 children. His past medical history is remarkable for asthma and six “heart attacks” that he claims occurred because of a 25-year history of drug use (primarily cocaine). He states that he used drugs as recently as 2 weeks ago. He does not have any prior medical records with him. He claims that he has been having occasional periods of chest pain. He is unable to report the duration or pattern of the pain. Before proceeding, explore the following questions: What further information would you need to diagnose angina (substantiate your answer)? What is the connection between cocaine use and angina? Identify at least three tests that you would order to diagnose angina.

Diagnosis: Angina

1. List specific goals of treatment for E.H.

2. What dietary and lifestyle changes should be recommended for this patient?

3. What drug therapy would you prescribe for E.H. and why?

4. How would you monitor for success in E.H.?

5. Describe one or two drug–drug or drug–food interactions for the selected agent.

6. List one or two adverse reactions for the selected agent that would cause you to change therapy.

7. What would be the choice for the second-line therapy?

8. Discuss specific patient education based on the prescribed first-line therapy.

9. What over-the-counter and/or alternative medications would be appropriate for E.H.?

Questions:

1.1. The LTC Continuum

Let us begin by exploring the “big picture” view of Long Term Care (LTC).  Seventy percent of people 65 and over will need some form of LTC service during their lifetimes.  Take some time to review these two sites listed in the class schedule:  Genworth 2019 Cost of Care and 2019 Alzheimer’s Association Facts and Figures.

What are your initial impressions?  Discuss why understanding LTC is an important aspect of healthcare leadership.  Support your opinions with valid references.

1.2. The LTC Continuum – 1

Care at Home, Community Based Programs and Services, Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities, Assisted Living, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, and caregiver issues. Your Answer should be in the form of a case study analysis.  Here is an example of how to format one:  https://writingcenter.ashford.edu/writing-case-study-analysis  You can use another similar approach or a variation of this example.

Consider this scenario, a composite of actual circumstances.

Bob and Mary were happy when their military service ended, they married and embarked on their civilian careers. Bob and Mary were healthcare professionals; Bob was a professor at the local medical school and Mary was a hospice nurse.  Bob and Mary were always active in their church and volunteered their time in the community.  They both retired at age 65 to pursue their dream of domestic and international travel.  During the early years of their retired life, the couple continued to work part time, travel extensively, and spend time with their grandkids.  When Mary turned 78 years of age Bob noticed that she was having memory problems.

Mary always kept up on the latest topics and was always the first to complete the crossword puzzles and other logic games in the newspaper.  However, Mary seemed to become increasingly forgetful; she would run errands to purchase specific items and return home empty-handed.  The couple decided to seek help from a gerontologist.  An extensive battery of cognitive and neuropsychological tests determined that Mary’s language skills and mental abilities had markedly diminished.  Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, an incurable terminal brain disease.  After the initial shock of the diagnosis, the couple developed a plan that included Bob serving as Mary’s sole caregiver.

Over time, the disease progressed making it difficult for Bob to meet Mary’s needs.  In addition, the progression of the disease was tough for both Bob, the children and grandchildren to witness.  At first Mary became confused, then she became progressively irritable and aggressive. Five years after the diagnosis, Mary became almost totally withdrawn.  Her appetite was nonexistent, and she became incontinent.  Additionally, Mary was diagnosed with “sundowners’ syndrome” – a phenomenon whereby the individual experiences confusion and exasperation during the late afternoon or early evening hours.

Bob struggled to care for her and keep an upbeat attitude; however, he too was experiencing health issues due to aging. Bob was a competitive runner for years which impacted his knees and other joints. At times, this condition prevented him from daily activities, self-care and taking care of Mary.

Bob eventually hired a home health aide to visit daily to assist Mary and also do some light household chores.  As Mary’s condition grew more serious, he had to make a decision.  He was no longer able to care for her, and his own ailments were starting to severely impact his ability to take care of himself.

Bob and Mary had no assets and their retirement savings was gone.  They were forced to ask for financial assistance from their children.  Luckily, their children were professionals and able to assist Bob and Mary financially.  The family had a meeting and agreed that Bob and Mary need to move into a home where they can both get the care that they need.

Questions

  1. What long-term care options should be considered by Bob and his family for both himself and Mary?

  1. What are the requirements necessary to access the care you have chosen in Question 1?

  1. What funding mechanisms are available to Bob and Mary, and how does this affect the choice of their care options?

  1. What could Bob and Mary have done to plan their care during their later years?

  1. What is your plan to prepare for the possibility of your need for long-term care?

1.3. The LTC Continuum – 2  Caregivers

Skilled Nursing Facilities, Palliative Care, Hospice and End of Life Care.

You have been hired as a consultant to the city government to conduct a survey of caregivers.  Who will you define as a caregiver?  How will you pick your sample?  What will you ask?  What are the salient issues that you will want to cover?

1.4. Assessing Quality of Care

What are the major strengths and weaknesses of the nursing home survey process in assuring that residents have high levels of quality of care and quality of life?

1.5 Beyond the Four Walls

What do you consider to be the key areas for developing quality metrics in home and community based care?  Which ones are easier to measure than others?

1.6 The Price is Right

Every discussion of Long Term Care eventually arrives at the subject of cost.  In preparation for Week 10, test your knowledge on Medicare and Medicaid.

All stakeholders in LTC should strive to understand how both Medicaid and Medicare are implemented.

After testing your knowledge, review Medicare at 50 – Origins and Evolution.  Share three insights from your review.
