Answer  preview

According to the Equal Act of 2010, both genders, both female and male, should be paid equally for similar work. It is regardless of whether an employee is on a temporary or part-time basis since the period of working for the employer is not significant when determining pay equity. One of the valid reasons under the A.C.T. when their pay may differ for similar positions include skill shortages, rotating shifts, or unsocial hours. Other genuine reasons involve working at night and geographical differences, such as London weighting (Hutchison, 2018). Another logical reason is when the jobs are not of equal value based on a fair job evaluation scheme that does not discriminate against sex. On the other hand, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission provides stipulations for a differential in pay for the same positions. Variations in pay nare only permitted based on factors such as quantity or quality of work, merit, or even seniority but not sex.
