Sustainability in the supply chain addresses the different aspects of the supply chain process, such as environmental, economic, social, and legal aspects affecting the supply chain process. Supply chain process is affected by the amount of waste, carbon footprint, emissions, air pollution, labor violations, deforestations, and safety of workers (Christopher, 2011). Supply chain sustainability is grounded on the fact that socially responsible practices are good not only to the planet but also to inhabitants of the earth, improves brand awareness and finally minimizes the negative impact on the environment as it improves its long term profits.
