Rapid Review Psychoactive drug use Cannabis

In your Rapid Review, analyze and explain the pharmacological aspects of the drug as they relate to the following: neurotransmitters affected, receptors, route of administration, half-life, doses, side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, and other important facets of the drug. Explain these aspects of the drug in terms of the psychiatric disorders indicated for the drug and the issue(s) associated with that use. If there is no accepted therapeutic use for the drug, evaluate and describe the actions of the drug with regard to the abuse process. The paper must focus on the pharmacology of the drug and not on the social or addictive aspects. If you focus on addiction and social impact, your paper will not receive credit.

In addition to the text, research a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles published within the last five years on your selected drug. Prepare a three-page summary of the drug using the PSY630 Rapid Review Example paper (Links to an external site.) as a guide.

Major depression disorder

$6.00

Evaluate the disorder in terms of symptomatic and behavioral presentation. Include the time, course, and progression of the disorder. Evaluate and explain special features of the disease epidemiology including risk factors for development of the disorder, lifespan and reproductive factors increasing risk of developing the disorder, and any genetic, environmental, or behavioral factors that increase risk.

Theory:

Evaluate the predominant theory or theories regarding the biological basis of the disorder. Explain the disorder in terms of pertinent neurotransmitter and receptor theories and use your references to provide an evidence base for these theories. Analyze neurotransmitter system(s) involved in the pathology of the disorder, including a description of: 1) the involved neurotransmitter(s) and receptor(s), 2) regions of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nervous system) involved with any pathological anatomical changes, and 3) abnormalities of neural circuits and pathways. Include an explanation of how receptor agonists or antagonists would theoretically treat the disorder to reverse the pathology and restore normal function, or why they would be expected to improve symptoms.

For your final project you will be writing a paper in APA format. (See details below.)
Your paper should be approximately 4-5 pages or 1200 words.

In your paper you will choose from one of the topics listed in Chapter 14: Adolescent Stress and Alienation or Chapter 15: Substance Abuse, Addiction, and Dependency. Here are the topics:

Running Away
Teen Depression
Suicide
Self-Injurious Behavior
Eating Disorders
Juvenile Delinquency
Conduct Disorder, ODD, and ADHD
Juvenile Gangs
Drug Use and Abuse
Tobacco and Smoking
Alcohol and Excessive Drinking

Your completed paper will be due on Sunday night, the last night of Week 3 at one minute before midnight, E.S.T.
*Remember, we already know what the textbook says so you will want to do good research to find additional materials on this topic as it specifically relates to adolescents. Your textbook is fine as one resource but you will need at least 3 others for a total of 4 in addition to the text.
Your paper will analyze the topic presented in the text, Chapter 14. You will need to include and cover these important details about your topic:

1) Introduction: A proper definition/introduction of the problem you will present
2) Epidemiology overview (the causes, statistical information)
3) Causes and symptoms (why do teens struggle with this stressor)

Episodic memories and autobiographical memories.

$10.00

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, please read When Forced Fabrications Become Truth: Causal Explanations and False Memory Development, view How Your “Working Memory” Makes Sense of the World, Elizabeth Loftus: How Reliable Is Your Memory?

For this paper, you will be explaining some of the cognitive-based ideologies related to how memory development works, how it is affected by outside variables, and how strategies can improve one’s own information processing. You will demonstrate an understanding of psychological research methods and skeptical inquiry by correctly utilizing support resources within your writing.

Complete the following:

Introduce the topic of effective knowledge or memory development (including assimilation and accommodation) based on cognitivism.
Explain, precisely, the mental process of knowledge or memory development.

Include the importance of successfully moving information from working (short-term) memory to long-term memory (effective information processing)?
Discuss the factors of attention and perception in association with successfully moving information from sensory to working memory to long-term memory.
Discuss the predominant variables that can affect effective processing for each of the following types of memories: semantic memories, episodic memories, and autobiographical memories.
(Hint—emotions, outside distractions, etc.)
Discuss the prevalence of false memories, and how this phenomenon may affect how we learn effectively, as well as help others to learn accurately.
Conclude with a summarization of your paper’s content (conclusion paragraph).

The Knowledge Acquisition and Memory Development paper

Must be a minimum of five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center’s APA Style (Links to an external site.) resource.

Opportunities of Evidence-Based Design

$4.00

Question Description: Consider the following quotation: “Often times, potential users of research knowledge are unconnected to those who do the research, and consequently a huge gap ensues between research knowledge and practice behaviors” (Barwick, M., Boudell, K., Stasiulis, E., Ferguson, H., Blase, K., & Fixsen, D., 2005). Social workers must work to close the gap perceived by the authors of this quote.

In your previous research course, you addressed the concept of evidence-based practice. However, it is important not to fall into a habit of using the term “evidence-based practice” without a clear understanding of its meaning. In particular, it is important to understand what standards of evidence must exist to classify an intervention or a program as evidence based. In this assignment, you are to clarify your understanding of the nature of evidence-based practice and analyze the challenges
