Latitudinal variations define the different levels of precipitations that should be expected in every region. Latitudinal zones in South America include the Northern Hemisphere, which is very hot during summer and early winter with very low precipitation. The tropical belt is another section that is characterized by plenty of rain due to the influence of the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ). The last is the Southern hemisphere, which receives plenty of precipitation, and freezes do occur more often. Considering altitudinal zonation, there are hot, warm, cool, cold lands as you move from the sea level to about 4,600 meters above the sea level. All these lands experience different temperatures and precipitation that define the type of land use. For instance, hot lands between 0 and 1,000 meters above sea level are hot with varying levels of rainfall. Also, cold lands between 3,000 and 4,600 meters above the sea level experience low temperatures, and there is plenty of snow (Kent, 2016).
