Assignment 3 Tips:
Evaluation: Assignment 3: Performance Management
Scenario: To prepare for the employee who will be occupying the role, create an employee benefits brochure that you would present to new employees during their initial orientation. Include in this brochure mandatory and discretionary benefits that are used in your industry.
The brochure should be 6–8 pages (sides /panels) with a professional appearance and should be modeled after a professional booklet from your company, a former company, or a company you would like to work for.
Hint: Research various Microsoft brochure templates to create a professional booklet.
NOTE: One of the positions the benefits brochure should be the most applicative to is the job in your description from Week 3. Find creative ways to incorporate your work from that assignment into this one.
Tips: A few things to note here, please use a Microsoft brochure template – you need to do this. Explore MS templates from the main MS Word screen and do a search for ‘brochures’, most of the templates shown will be 6 page/panel (this will be one double sided fold-out page with three panels of information per side, basically, a tri-fold benefits brochure) – just like any brochure you might pick up somewhere. It will be one standard sheet of paper, but folded into three panels per side (a total of six panels, front and back) . Also, you need to do this assignment with a company you are familiar with, and you need to incorporate information from Ch. 14, and base the job you will offer benefits for – with this brochure, on the job you described in Assignment #1.
Also, below is suggested outline for the brochure, you do not need to follow this outline but you certainly can if you wish.
Side / Panel 1: Cover page: use a graphic for the company and also add the words, “Benefits Brochure”;
Side / Panel 2: Brief description of the company, and description of the job opportunity and how benefits is an extension of overall compensation, (Hint: p.p. 409-411);
Side / Panel 3: Statement on how the company complies with all federal and state mandated benefits including (HINT: Table 4.1, p. 411 – give examples of some of these benefits);
Side / Panel 4: Optional Benefits – list and also describe the type, how much and for how long these benefits can be used. For example, Retirement Plan as a 401K Plan with employer match as 3% of paid salary – or something like that. List and describe at least three optional benefits, as per our textbook discussion on p.p. 417-427;
Side / Panel 5: Family Friendly benefits, please list and describe at least two family friendly benefits as discussed on p.p. 427-428; and list any other benefits offered;
Side / Panel 6: (back page): Contact information for employees with questions.
Remember this is supposed to be a tri-fold brochure detailing benefits – per the assignment instructions, one sheet of paper, three panel son each side for a total of six panels, tri-fold.
PLEASE NOTE: after you have finished your brochure using and MS Word template, please save your brochure – you will need to upload it as a n MS word or .pdf document.
Question 1
“Testing Your Network Design.” Please respond to the following:
– Describe the significance of testing your network design. Use a real-world example to illustrate your point.
One way to approach this discussion consists of finding some Network testing tools then, see what they test. And then tah-dah what they test comprises the significance of testing the network design.
Question 2
“Network Tools.” Please respond to the following:
Compare and contrast the network tools that you researched. Identify which you highly recommend and state why.
– Okay, for the first discussion question this week we just found generic tests. Now analyze the tools comparatively to see which one delivers the most value. Consider that value could be that it delivers the best test or that it delivers more tests or that it’s cheaper then other tools.
Assignment: An investor is considering making a small investment in a startup company.Wefunder is a private equity funding platform. On WeFunder, you can invest directly in a company in exchange for equity. In other words, the Wefunder pitch is a not a Kickstarter campaign, but more like a venture capital investment. In fact, it’s kind of like shark tank, only the deal terms are clearly spelled out ahead of time.
No industry specific knowledge is required or assumed. No need to do much or any outside research on the topic.
Instructions: You have two options. Please pick only one of the two options to do your write-up on:
https://wefunder.com/
https://wefunder.com/sunstate.
Note 1: In your write-up, please give your argument only using the framework in Porter’s “What is Strategy?” reading as well as our in-class discussion from class 1. Please do not use any other theory frameworks, such as 5 Forces or frameworks that you’ve learned in other classes such as SWOT.
Note 2: Please don’t get lost in the minutiae of the investment decision itself. This is meant to be an analysis using Porter’s “What is strategy?” article. So don’t worry about the investment specifics. You can assume that you are investing in equity shares at a fair price. If the company is good and passes Porter’s theories, then it’s a good investment.
Questions for Your Writeup:
You don’t need to answer these questions in essay format. You can just answer the questions one at a time. No need to copy and paste the questions unless you need to waste space and make it look like you wrote more than you did.
Length: 12 pt font. 1-page max. I prefer the 1.15 standard spacing, but double-spaced is fine too.
1. What trade-offs, if any, is the company making (i.e. the company that you chose)? According to Porter’s argument in pages 8-10 of What is Strategy?, Is the company making the kind of “trade-offs” that lead to a sustainable competitive advantage?
2. Does the company have a unique and valuable position? According to Porter’s argument in pages 4-8 of What is Strategy, why or why not?
3. Does the company integrate activities in a way that creates “fit”? According to Porter’s argument in pages 10-15 of What is Strategy, why or why not? Is this activity “fit” hard to imitate?
4. Based on your conclusions from above, would you recommend that the investor invest in the company? Why or why not? Use Porter’s ideas from the What is Strategy article to justify your rationale.
[Reminder: Please do not include a case summary orintroduction to these short assignments. Please get right into answer the questions. In fact, you do not need to even include your names on the document as that just takes up precious space. Names are are automatically tagged in Blackboard. Your help is much appreciated.]
