To earn the maximum possible points on this assignment, use and cite at least eight sources.
At least three of these must be from scholarly journals, and all sources should be selected based on reliability, currency, and level of information/analysis. The UMGC library will be very useful in helping you find appropriate sources. You can, but do not have to, include all of the sources from your annotated bibliography.
This paper is the culmination of your research project, in which you are examining a current issue or event in the news from the perspective of field of criminal justice . Before drafting your paper, you will have chosen a topic, developed a research question, and identified several potential sources in an annotated bibliography. You should write on the same topic for this paper, unless your professor has asked you to make changes to your topic.
As you write your paper, be sure to include the following:
Length and Format
This paper should be at least 2000 words, including references.
Incorporate these elements of APA style:
Use one-inch margins.
Double space.
Use a consistent, easy-to-read font between 10-point and 12-point.
Include a title page with the title of your paper, your name, and the name of your school.

An introductory paragraph that includes your thesis statement. The introduction is meant to engage your readers and orient them to the topic, and the thesis statement should clearly state your position or central claim to be supported in the body of your paper.

Focused body paragraphs that begin with topic sentences and use transitions as needed. This is where you will support the thesis using arguments and evidence. Use the sentence outline you developed in class to guide you.
A concluding paragraph that reiterates the thesis, summarizes key points of the paper, and leaves the reader with the “So what?”

In this module, we began to cover material about cultural differences in prevalence and patterns of alcohol use, and learned that there are substantial disparities in alcohol-related problems and treatment. We are going to focus more narrowly on some of these health disparities later on in the semester, but I first want us to delve a bit deeper into differences in drinking norms across cultures.
For this assignment, you will:
Choose a cultural or societal group. This can be a country (e.g., Germany, India), a racial or ethnic group (e.g., Native Hawaiian individuals, Latinx individuals), religious group (e.g., Muslim individuals, Jewish individuals), or a specific population within the United States (e.g., gender minority youth, first generation college students).
Describe the role of alcohol within the group or society that you have chosen. Describe any laws, norms, functions, or history of alcohol use within this group. What can you find regarding when and why alcohol is consumed? Were you able to find information regarding how rates of drinking compare to individuals from other groups? Feel free to include any information you think is relevant or interesting. The St. Fleur family is well respected in the Haitian community
The St. Fleur family is well respected in the Haitian community because they are religious with great moral values. They moved to the United States because of political issues in Haiti. Ronald, the youngest son of this family, is 27 years old and lives at home with his mother and father. Recently, he began having fevers and subsequently developed pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital, where laboratory tests were HIV positive. Ronald was in shock when the doctor informed him that he was HIV positive. He confessed to the doctor that he was gay, but he could not tell his family. He said that he did not want to bring shame to the family. Because he couldn’t be in a formal relationship disowning to his family and the Haitian community’s view of homosexuality, he has been very promiscuous over the years.
