The other justifiable reason is safety, government and the companies may be held responsible if anything happens to the media personalities. Restricting information may be necessary where the company in question and the government may be overwhelmed by the many media outlets yearning for answers and wanting to show other citizens the progress and effect of the disaster. BP’s aim of saving on costs and high production resulted in a decline in safety regulation in the refinery which was one of the causes of the spillage. This was unethical on the part of the executives. Companies have an ethical right to intervene regarding environmental disasters this is due to the moral and ethical obligations to the wildlife and the environment. The intervention may reduce further death and degradation of the environment. Groups and individuals may come up with solutions to deal with the effects of the disaster, provide relief and long-run recovery and rebuilding. Some disasters such as BP oil spillage may lead to the extinction of animals and plants. Due to oil’s viscosity, it tends to suffocate the biotic elements.
